Location and Geology
Minera Real de Angeles Asientos is located in the state of Aguascalientes. The project consists in an underground mine with mineral concentrations of silver, zinc, lead and copper. The mining complex is in a dry area with an average temperature of 18°C with a high of 30°C and a low of 4°C.

This mine started operation in 1548 in the San Francisco vein founding Mina Real de Asientos. In 1991, new exploration projects were finished and signed by Luiusmin and Frisco, exploring more aggressively in 2007. In the same year the operator started the construction of a new plant which operated until 2008 producing lead, zinc and silver.

Productivity and Technology
Asientos mine has a current production of 8,953 tons of lead, 37,458 tons of zinc, 1.656 million ounces of silver, 4,442 ounces of gold and 605 tons of copper.

Health, Safety and Environment
This operator of the mine has implemented the Environmental and Social Management System and follows the International Cyanide Management Code. These measures were taken with the goal of reducing health problems of workers and the population as well as mitigating environmental damage. This mining unit also is certified by the PROFEPA, the nationwide environmental protection agency, as a clean industry. For security matters, 123,159 hours of training were given to all the group’s employees in order to maintain safety standards, avoid accidents and improve workers health.
Sustainability activities in 2011 included environmental control programs, water and energy sustainability, management systems and certifications.

Strategy and ambitions
Justo Wong Salinas, Asientos mine CEO, informed that a new project is intended to be done in order to increase production capacity from the current 10,000 to 230,000 tons per day once the project is complete in 2014. The project was approved by SEMARNAT in the early 2014 and consists of an open pit mine development.
